Year 9 - Southampton to Cape Town

For part of the Year 9 unit on Global Tourism the students were challenged to devise a route from Southampton, UK to Cape Town South Africa in 1937. Being pre WW2 students had to consider which countries were allies of Great Britain as well as a number of logistical issues when creating their plan. Problems such as the planes could not fly at night and the fact as the planes were actually flying boats had to be taken into consideration. The students created their routes on ESRI maps and then converted them into a story map journal app. Examples of the students work can be found below:
