The Year 9 students have been devising a route between Southampton, UK to Cape Town, South Africa in the year 1937. Before they could do this they needed to explore what airlines were like pre World War Two and why they were created. Students focused on Imperial Airlines as the British Empire was the largest in the world during the turn of the 19th Century. Therefore it was vital for the British to connect their dominion to share ideas and ultimately rule as effectively as they could. The class wrote a historical essay on why Imperial Airlines was developed along with a description of how the airline evolved. Examples of students work can be found below.
