8i have been exploring climatic hazards in their Individuals and Societies lesson. They have found out how hurricanes form, how to be prepared if you live in a vulnerable area and the type of damage that is caused by such an event. The students were then asked to research a hurricane that interested them (some even investigated a hurricane that had the same name as them). Students were also introduced to journalism during this section of the course and in particular how to write an engaging article that would keep its readers interest. Students combined their knowledge of being a reporter with their research of a specific hurricane and created their own newspaper reports. Examples can be found below.
