The Year 7s have been investigating specific Bronze Age Cities to discover different aspects of specialisation. To do this the students were given city states from different continents. One group created a series of videos to inform their peers of their new discoveries.
Year 7 - Bronze Age Cities Living Museum
The Year 7s put on an excellent ‘Living Museum’ all about the importance of specialisation in different Bronze Age Cities. The students really got in to character and were able to live out their chosen positions. Parents and Year 6s came to visit the museum to learn about the how the different cities existed. Thank you to everyone who attended the exhibition and to the students for all of their hard work.
Year 7 - Bronze Age Cities Comparison Essay
The students in Year 7 were asked to write their first extended piece of writing in Individuals and Societies based on the knowledge they had gained from the Living Museum. The students were asked to write an essay which compared and contrasted the innovations and structure of two Bronze Age Cities. The process took several weeks to allow the students to gain an understanding of the expected structure of the piece and to plan their ideas coherently. They then spent a weeks worth of lessons writing the essay. The students did a great job and you can read some of their essays below.

Year 7 Bronze Age Cities
Year 7 have worked extremely hard to create an interesting 'Living Museum' about the development of Bronze Age Cities, specialisations within the cities and what made them successful. The museum was a huge success and the visitors that were able to join us enjoyed listening to the knowledge and understanding that the students conveyed. Year 7 - Bronze Age Cities Exhibition
The Year 7 students have been working hard getting ready for the 'Living Museum' on the 12th May. This week they have been working on their posters which give a brief outline of the importance of their specialisation (role) and their artefact. To do this students looked at how museums displays their artefacts.
Year 7 - Maps of Ancient Egypt
To kick start the Bronze Age Cities unit of study the students were taught the skills of how to draw a simple annotated sketch map. They were reminded that every map needed a title, key, scale and compass rose. The students then investigated the importance of The Nile and how it gave 'life' to Egypt.
