Decolonisation

Year 11 - Decolonisation

In Year 11, students investigate the decolonisation of European empires after the Second World War. As well as learning about the independence of certain countries in class (including Pakistan, India and Bangladesh), students investigate the colonial experience, independence movement and post-colonial history of a country of their choice. This enables students to learn more about their country of origin, a country where they may have lived or simply about a country that they are interested in.

The following is a brief selection of the first slide of several of the presentations which students produced recently to explain the fruits of their research to the class.

Year 11 - Decolonisation

Year 11 students have been studying the issue of Decolonisation, with a particular emphasis on the break up of the major Western European empires after 1945. They have examined the key similarities and differences between various independence movements and have considered the role of significant individuals. Attached are examples of presentations prepared by students on independence movements of their choice.
