Year 10 - Easter Island

The students have explored Malthusian and Boserup's theories on population and resources. From this the students completed a mystery in which Malthusian thought on population decline due to resource depletion occurred. Rapa Nui was a bustling island and is still famous for its stone heads. Unfortunately its population was reduced dramatically for numerous reasons and it is these that the students explored. The mystery culminated in students creating poster board presentations on why the people of Rapa Nui disappeared. They were asked to justify their findings using evidence from a variety of sources.
