Year 12 - Nexus Thinking

For part of the DP Geography course the students are required to explore complex problems where there is not a clear solution. To introduce this idea to the students they were asked to cut out a series of hexagons which had a number of statements on them relating to food, water and energy. The students were then asked to group the issues and then try and relate them by joining the different sides of the hexagons together. The group then discussed why the tasks was challenging and where the interrelationships between the statements were. Below is a series of photographs showing the students working along with their nexus thinking hexagon posters.

Year 12 - Security of Resources

The geographers in Year 12 have been looking at the complex issue of being resource secure. They have specifically looked at what water, food and energy security looks like and the impact that struggling for resources can have on countries. They were then asked to compare and contrast the situation in Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates. Below are the tables of discussion and comparison.
