The Year 8s will be visiting the Grotte aux Fees in Switzerland as part of their Medieval Journeys trip and therefore they have learnt about the different features that can be found in these environments. To bring the process and landforms to life the students created models out of play dough. See the photographs below to see the process in action along with the end results.
Year 8 - Karstic Environments
The Year 8 students have been exploring the related concept of a process through the context of landform creation. To do this they have looked which landforms are created in limestone environments. The group then developed a guide to the different landforms using LucidPress.

Year 8 - Rock Cycle Comic Strips
Before the trip to the Grotte aux Fees at Saint Maurice the students have been studying the formation of rocks and plate tectonics. To look at rock types they studied how the different rocks are formed and how they link together in a cycle. To show their understanding the students created comic strips. They were asked to use the subject specific words they had learnt to inform others of this important cycle.
Year 8 - Plate Tectonics
The Year 8 groups have been investigating how the tectonic plates of our planet move. They have focused on the different sections of Earth and the importance of convectional currents. 8i were invited into 8o's class for them to be taught what conservative, constructive, destructive and hot spots are. The students in 8i wrote notes and drew diagrams from each group presentation and they then gave 8o feedback on their work to improve for their assessment.
